Geoff Kynaston-Stear plays the Eb tuba and occasionally electric bass. Although he only joined relatively recently, he has already made a huge contribution to the Band and, along with his assistance dog Charlie, become very much part of our ‘family’.
“I was 12 years old when I started playing the tuba. I also play the double bass and guitar, but my favourite is the tuba because you embrace it in two arms, hold it close to your chest and breathe life into it….it becomes an extension of your own body.
“I joined the Band about 8 months ago, and was immediately struck by how friendly and welcoming everyone was towards me and my assistance doggy, Charlie! I particularly enjoy playing some of the swing numbers.
“I work in health and safety roles, but also enjoy walking, painting and writing. I have a life-threatening medical condition with no warning of the onset of an ‘episode’. To keep me safe I have an amazing doggy from Medical Detection Dogs at Great Horwood. Charlie has been with me since December 2018 and has saved me countless A&E admissions (and therefore is saving the NHS boatloads of cash!)”
