Annie Cooper has been in the Band for about 15 years. Initially playing the Bb clarinet she bought herself its bigger brother a few years back and is currently the bass clarinet section of the Winslow Concert Band!
“I started playing the clarinet when I was around 50, and as well as the Bb and bass clarinet I now also play the soprano and tenor sax.
I joined the Band together with my husband Peter (who plays trumpet) after we saw their stand at a BBC Play it Again day in Watford. I love the way the band appreciates what you can play and helps you to get better at it. Everyone who loves to play is welcome.”
When asked which her all-time favourite piece that she has played in the Band Annie said ” Ooh… I like the ‘Madness Medley’, but loved ‘Moment for Morricone’ which got us a first for our section at a recent festival.
“Outside Band life I am supposed to be retired, but I’m really more like full time volunteer! I don’t have a lot of ‘spare time’ but when I do I enjoy stitching and manage to get to a group at the Queens Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury most weeks.”
