With so many great ensembles at the MK Music Festival, we were both pleased and honoured to be awarded a Distinction and the Bronze Medal for the Large Ensemble class.
We played Mancini!, a medley of familiar tunes by the great man, including Pink Panther, Moon River, The Baby Elephant Walk, Dreamsville and Peter Gunn. It is a piece we purchased in memory of former member Alison Cockroft, who passed away in December 2019 following a battle with cancer. We know she would have loved the piece (especially the tenor saxophone solo of Pink Panther!) and I think we did her proud.
Congratulations to both Woburn Jazz and Big Fiddles who won the Gold and Silver medals respectively.
We are now preparing our summer programme for a number of events we will be playing at over the summer.
