We are really excited to announce the launch of our Bursary scheme, which will enable local people of any age to learn a new instrument as well as the pleasure you get from playing with other musicians in the Band. The Bursary will provide heavily subsidised tuition as well as an instrument. Initially we are offering the chance to learn the euphonium or the trombone as part of the scheme.
The euphonium is a low brass instrument. It is similar to the baritone horn. However, it generally has a larger bore than the baritone horn, and this is mostly conical, whereas the bore of the baritone horn is primarily cylindrical.
Playing the trombone in Winslow Concert Band
The trombone is also a musical instrument that is in the brass family. As on all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player’s vibrating lips (embouchure) cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. However, whereas most other brass instruments use valves, the trombone principally uses a telescoping slide mechanism to vary the length of the instrument to change the pitch.
