What a difference a year makes!
Last year we were in lockdown so no gigs. This year we will be playing at six events during the four weeks running up to Christmas.
Our Christmas gigs will kick off this evening when we play at the switching on of the Buckingham Christmas Lights. The weather forecast isn’t great – a chilly 2° with wind chill making it feel like -4°, and with the wind we will need to keep a foot on our music stand and use magnets to tether the music! Despite all this, we will gladly wrap up warmly for the opportunity to play again and hope to bring some Christmas cheer to the folks of Buckingham.
Next weekend we will be at the Frank Moran Centre in West Bletchley on Friday for the switching on of their Christmas lights and again on Saturday for their “Christmas Magic at Melrose” event. At the moment the BBC weather app is showing dry weather on Friday evening and not too cold, so we will trust that this doesn’t change and that there will be a good turnout.
On Saturday 11th Winslow Concert Band will be playing in Meadow Walk Shopping Centre, Buckingham before and after the Christmas Parade. We will be collecting money for our Charity of the Year, which this year is Willen Hospice.
Saturday 18th December will see us performing at Stowe Gardens between 11am and 1pm, so if you are visiting Stowe on that day do come along.
Our last Christmas event of the year will be at Winslow Christian Fellowship‘s carol service on Tuesday 21st December at Sir Thomas Freemantle School. Everyone is invited, so why not come along and get into the festive spirit? It will be lovely for the Band to finish the season on home ground.
